Our Aim and Purpose

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment

Our vision is to provide a directly linked enterprise for every vocational qualification we offer. By aligning business ventures with our curriculum, we provide students with a rich, contextual environment where they can apply academic theory to practical, real-world tasks. Each enterprise is built on the principle of scaffolded independence; through strategic ‘job carving’ and tailored levels of support, we ensure that every student can contribute meaningfully to the workplace, regardless of their starting point.

Within these enterprises, students have the opportunity to explore specific industries in a safe, high-support environment, particularly in sectors where traditional work experience can be difficult to access. To ensure these efforts are recognised, students earn accredited, non-qualification certifications in the specialised skills they master. These credentials serve to bolster their professional CVs, providing tangible evidence of their capabilities and building vital workplace confidence.

Our commitment to inclusion extends beyond our students to the wider professional community. We use our enterprise as a live demonstration of inclusive best practice, showing potential employers how simple, thoughtful adjustments can create a more accessible workplace. By nurturing ‘disability confidence’ and showcasing the immense benefits of a diverse workforce, we bridge the gap between education and employment.

Our Impact

Our enterprises are more than just training spaces; they are proven pathways to independence. To date, the skills and ‘disability confidence’ nurtured within these businesses have enabled six of our students to achieve permanent paid employment and one student to secure a formal apprenticeship within the Trust. Furthermore, we have supported many others in finding external employment by translating the specific and transferable skills gained in industry to the wider job market.
