Student Voice

Student Voice at the College

The College is committed to promoting a meaningful student voice, ensuring that learners are actively involved in shaping their college experience. We regularly seek to hear and understand students’ views so that they feel listened to, respected, and confident that their opinions make a difference.

Student voice is gathered through a range of planned approaches, including student surveys linked to the college experience, ongoing feedback captured through the curriculum, and activities that inform college practice and policies. This feedback is carefully considered and used to support continuous improvement, personal development, and positive learner experiences.

The Student Council is a key element of our student voice.  It provides a forum where learners can contribute ideas, raise concerns, and share feedback with staff. Participation in the Student Council supports preparation for adulthood outcomes by developing confidence, self‑advocacy, communication, teamwork, and decision‑making skills that are essential for independent living, employment, and active participation in the community.

Student Council

  • The Student Council represents the voice of learners at the College, giving students the opportunity to share ideas and contribute to decisions that shape college life.

About the Student Council

  • Two students from every class are nominated or volunteer to become members of the Student Council. The Council represents the views, interests and ideas of the student body, speaking on behalf of students and sharing their feedback with college staff.

Student Council members may:

  • Attend regular meetings and gather feedback from students in their classes
  • Share ideas, concerns and suggestions with tutors and college staff
  • Influence decisions that affect college life, ensuring student views are considered
  • Contribute to the development and review of college policies and practice where appropriate
  • Help shape college trips, clubs, fundraising activities and events

Why become a Student Council member?
