Creative iMedia
Subject Overview
Creative iMedia is a Cambridge National qualification that supports learners to develop digital creativity, technical skills and an understanding of the media industry within a structured academic pathway. Learning combines taught knowledge with practical application, enabling learners to plan, create and evaluate digital media products.
The course is designed for learners who demonstrate the literacy, independence and organisation skills needed to engage with formal assessment. Learning is carefully sequenced so that knowledge and technical skills build progressively over time, supporting learners to work with increasing independence, accuracy and confidence.
Curriculum Content
Learners study:
- The media industry and its sectors
- Digital media products and purpose
- Planning and producing digital content
- Media conventions, ethics and audience
Optional pathways include digital games development.
Accreditation and Qualifications
Learners work towards:
- Cambridge National Level 1/2 Creative iMedia, including exam and coursework units
Entry requirements include literacy skills at Level 1, with a minimum of Entry Level 3 English.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment
Assessment includes both examination and coursework, enabling learners to demonstrate subject knowledge, creativity, technical competence and the ability to apply learning independently across structured tasks and projects.
Employability, Life Skills and Progression
Learners develop transferable skills including independent working, problem‑solving, organisation, digital literacy and meeting deadlines. Creative iMedia supports progression to further education, creative pathways, apprenticeships or employment within digital, media and creative industries.
