Personalised Learning
Provision Overview
Personalised Learning is a structured area of provision designed to support learners’ individual needs, targets, and development priorities as outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This provision enables focused support where learners may benefit from additional consolidation, reinforcement or targeted input alongside their main programme of study.
Support is planned in response to learners’ starting points, ongoing assessment, and identified needs, ensuring provision is purposeful, proportionate and aligned with wider learning and wellbeing goals.
Focus of the Provision
Personalised Learning provision may support learners with:
- Progress towards individual targets, including those linked to EHCP outcomes.
- Consolidation of learning from English, Maths or Digital Skills.
- Development of confidence, independence and self‑management.
- Preparation for assessments, accreditation or key transition points.
- Targeted support linked to emotional wellbeing, where appropriate.
The level and type of support provided are flexible and responsive, allowing provision to be adjusted as learners develop over time.
Targeted Support and Intervention
Where appropriate, Personalised Learning provision may be used to coordinate or support access to targeted interventions available within the college’s scope of offer. This may include:
- Structured learning support sessions.
- Access to support pathways such as SALT‑informed strategies, emotional literacy activities, or communication‑focused interventions.
- Short‑term, targeted input to support specific barriers to learning.
Access to targeted support is informed by assessment, professional judgement, and available provision, and is regularly reviewed to ensure it remains appropriate and effective.
Delivery and Review
Personalised Learning provision may be delivered through individualised tasks, small‑group support or focused sessions, depending on learner need and capacity. Progress is monitored through observation, review of targets, and ongoing communication between staff to ensure support remains effective, proportionate, and appropriate.
Progression and Impact
Through structured and targeted support, learners are supported to:
- make sustained progress from their starting points
- build confidence and independence
- engage more effectively with their wider programme
- develop readiness for learning, work, and adult life
